Programs and Services

 DISTRICT PROGRAMS, OBJECTIVES, AND PRIORITIES:
​
  • Administer the Virginia BMP Cost-Share Program & Tax Credit Program

  • Assist the county with Emergency Programs

  • Continue to develop and implement conservation plans

  • Implement the District Strategic Plan to see solutions are being planned and achieved

  • Encourage 20 farmers to use conservation tillage practices on 400 acres

  • Work with general public to provide soil information through the digitized Patrick County Soil Survey

  • Administer the state’s portion of the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program

 

RECOGNITION OF CONSERVATION EFFORTS:

  • Recognize county landowner for the Forestry BMP Award

  • Recognize farmer for Clean Water Farm Award

  • Recognize and nominate educators or organization for Conservation Education Award

 

NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION:
​
  • Encourage landowners to participate in applying conservation practices

  • Develop conservation plans for 15 new landowners on 300 acres.

  • Encourage people to use the No-Till Drill.  Encourage planting of approximately 1,500 acres with 35 farmers

  • Provide general public with technical and non-technical assistance
